Sophie Hollis
Bristol, UK · Short Stay, Wualai
I came to Chiang Mai for three months to write, and Holloway found me a studio on Wualai Road that I did not want to leave. The welcome guide they provided was worth more than a week of my own research. Quiet street, good light, and a morning market two minutes away.

The thing that struck me most was that Nate asked what kind of life I wanted here before he showed me anything. That conversation shaped the whole search. I signed a lease on a house near Nimman that suited my work and my evenings perfectly. No regrets, eighteen months on.

Lyon, France · Tenancy Support
When my water heater broke in January, I contacted Holloway at 8am. By midday a plumber was there. What I appreciate is that Patcharee handles all of it — the coordination, the follow-up, even confirming the repair was done properly. For the monthly fee, it is extremely good value.

The lease review alone made the fee worthwhile. There was a clause I had not noticed that would have cost me in the event of an early exit. Holloway flagged it, we negotiated a revision, and the landlord agreed. That kind of advocacy is hard to find.

Amara Kessler
Zurich, Switzerland · Short Stay
I have used short-stay agencies in four cities. Holloway is different in that the properties actually match what they describe. The Old City apartment I rented for six weeks was genuinely quiet and walking distance from the temple I meditated at daily. Small things, but they matter.

My Thai is limited and I was nervous about signing a lease I did not fully understand. Holloway translated everything, explained the terms, and answered every question I had — some of them multiple times, without impatience. I felt genuinely cared for, not processed.

CASE STUDIES
Three tenancies in detail
CASE STUDY 01 · HOME SEARCH
Finding a year-long family home near good schools
The situation
A couple relocating from Singapore with two school-age children. They needed a home in a quiet, walkable area with access to international schooling options, within a careful budget.
What we did
Began with a two-hour consultation covering priorities, deal-breakers, and lifestyle preferences. Presented four properties over three weeks, with detailed notes on each. Reviewed the lease in full and proposed one amendment before signing.
The outcome
Settled into a house near Hang Dong Road within four weeks of first contact. The family extended their initial 12-month lease to 24 months and enrolled the Tenancy Support retainer in their second year.
CASE STUDY 02 · SHORT STAY
A two-month creative residency in the Wualai corridor
The situation
A ceramicist from the Netherlands seeking a quiet, furnished base in Chiang Mai's artisan quarter for two months while she developed a new body of work and connected with local studios.
What we did
Sourced a ground-floor studio apartment on a side street off Wualai — within three minutes of two ceramics workshops. The welcome guide included studio contacts, silver-working open days, and a weekly market schedule.
The outcome
Extended the stay by two weeks. Left with relationships in the Chiang Mai craft community and a standing reservation for the same property the following year.
CASE STUDY 03 · TENANCY SUPPORT
Managing an ongoing tenancy across language barriers
The situation
A remote worker from France in her second year of a Chiang Mai tenancy. Her landlord communicated primarily in Thai, she spoke none, and maintenance requests were being lost in translation.
What we did
Set up as a bilingual intermediary. Within the first three months: coordinated three repairs, interpreted a renewal notice, and helped negotiate a small rent adjustment. All communicated to her in clear English throughout.
The outcome
Tenancy relationship stabilised. She renewed for a third year with a written maintenance protocol agreed with the landlord — something she had been unable to arrange on her own.
